Although an upgrade, vs. fresh install, is possible, it is not recommended, especially going from FC2 to FC3, as FC3 uses udev/hal and FC2 does not. There are tons of problems doing an upgrade. So, fresh install is the best way to go.
Either way, you'll need the 4 install iso disks..... no simple, one click rpm to do this.
If it were me, I would bypass FC3 and go right to FC4, as the bugs with Hal and udev seem to have been worked out with FC4. .... just my opinion.
Happy upgrade!

there is a way you can do it with yum .... can't explain right now.. have to get back to work..

you will have to download a resource file from the fedora web site .... you may have conflicts with some files doing this way

I have a server up that started with Fedora core 1 and I put the DVD in for core 2 and when the DVD boots it ask you if you want to upgrade. I did this on the same system with core 3. I have not done core 4 on it yet. I don't know if I am going to. But when it did it from core 2 to 3 it was maybe 4 hours more or less. I don't remember but it was a long time to install it. The only thing that does not work right is the windows on it. What they call X I guess. When I minimize any window it goes down off the screen and can't get it back. The buttum is pannel is moved over to the right now too so that it starts in the middle of the screen.

It don't matter to me to mutch because I mostly use it just as a server and don't even switch it to it's monitor hardly at all.

But from what I remember it was very easy to upgrade. Just put in the DVD in and it's knows that you all ready have a Fedora load and will upgrade it for you.

Before I upgraded I did a back up of my hole system using True Image Backup. But I never had to use it to restore yet.
