Username and password mirroring

I am attempting to mirror my existing usernames and password from an old red hat 8 box over to my new Fedora core 4 box. How do I do this, I know with the shadowing of passwd files that I can't just copy the passwd file over. anyone know of any utilities to do this? or is it a matter of entering all the usernames and passwords by hand onto the new system?

I'm not sure, but I think that you need to copy 2 files over:

/etc/password
and
/etc/shadow

I'd wait before trying this. I do not know if it will work, and want to allow time for someone to disagree with me on this

Yeah I thought it might be that simple, but I wasn't sure. Again I'll wait for someone to disagree with us both

/etc/group too, or you might have some users assigned to non-existent groups. You also need to create the homedirs.
