GAIM file sharing; GAIM alternative?

based on my google searches, i have come to conclusion that their is no plugin yet for GAIM that allows file sharing with say your entire buddy list...

it appears however, that such software may be developed.. i might donate to this cause:

http://downhillbattle.org/labs/gaim_filesharing_plugin/

also, i was wondering if there is an alternative to GAIM for signing on my AIM screen name...

i am a c++ programmer and lots of my friends say that GAIM has had terrible buffers overflows and security issues in the past, in addition to being poorly coded in general (like not checking return values).

so basically just wanted to confirm that their is no GAIM file sharing plugin yet, and wondered if some people could advise an alternative to GAIM,, even if it doesn't have file sharing functionality.. if you know of alternative to GAIM that does have file sharing functionality i'd be curious to know of what the program is called.. still interested in testing GAIM alternatives though, even if no file sharing. security comes first heh..

any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks..

That Gaim project seems to be well planned, if ambitious. I don't see any code yet however.

If you want AIM you have to sign in. How else are you going to be messaged?

i know i need to sign in to be messaged lol. what im asking is if their is another program like gaim that does the same thing. i want to avoid using gaim if their is an alternative program , as many programming gurus, such as ( http://infamous.hackaholic.org/ ) , think very poorly of gaim.

If you want an "all in one" client like Gaim, try Kopete. Its in with the FC4 distro. AOL also makes an AIM client for Linux. Or WINE you could do WINE and Trillian.
