How do I install more languages in the spellcheck of OpenOffice 1.1.3.
I have Fedora Core 3.

Hello,

I am using OpenOffice 1.9.118 on FC4 and this worked for me. Give it a shot and see what happens. I used this method to install the Canadian english dictionary

Open OpenOffice Writer
File>Wizards>Install New Dictionary

This will open a document that has some macros that will allow you to download and install new dictionaries.

Hope it works!

Hello blue13130,
Thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately, there is no File>Wizards> in my OpenOffice 1.1.3
I have not found it under any other menu either.
Under tools>spellcheck>check..>language I have a drop down menu with always English (USA) default when I open this dialog. There are also several other language option but not a lot but always back to English (USA)
Under tools>options..>language settings I get a dialog with nothing in it, it states only "this is where you make settings concerning language and writing aid for your work with OpenOffice.org", then there is nothing more, nothing to set. Under tools>thesaurus..>language..> I get a dialog where I only can selct English (USA), Hungarian and German (Germany) and I do not know where neither of them come from. It is by default always English (USA) when I open. Maybe the developers of Fedora Core 3 mean that you should conform to the English (USA) option?

Regards,

bengthansson

Hello triplehead,
Thanks for your answer. I tried "yum list *openoffice*langpack*" and got:
Setting up Repos
Reading repository metadata in from local files
base : ################################################## 2622/2622
updates-re: ################################################## 1059/1059
Do you know what the answer to this command means?
Do you know if you can change the English (USA) default ex. when you installed "openoffice.org-langpack-fi_FI.i386" ?
Regards, bengthansson

Do you mean that you can change between english and finnish without being back to english (USA) as a default each time you open any of the language dialogs? Which Fedora do you have? I have fc3.
