logwatch has become silent

Hey all--hope you can help.

I had some corruption on my /var/log fs a few weeks back and logwatch stopped sending me emails. I have since fsck'd and the fs is fine. logwatch, however, continues to be silent.

I have run logwatch with the debug switch from the command line and I can see it is actually running. The last debug statement I get it:

Processing Service: zz-disk_space
/usr/bin/perl /etc/log.d/scripts/services/zz-disk_space 2>&1

the logwatch.conf file does tell it where to send the email--so I don'tunderstand why its not getting there.

Any help is appreciated!

J

What version of FC is that? Try rpm -e logwatch, clear any fragments yourself and then yum install logwatch.

is syslogd running?? I believe that is what actually controls the logwatch facility?? If not, then sendmail is set up locally so that the e-mails will be delivered locally (on the localhost adapter) to you, therefore if you shutoff sendmail - then you wont receive those e-mails.
