i feel like a newb (root pw help needed) (SOLVED)

so due to work and moving i havent been on my linux server in about 2 months, forgot my pw. i use the boot disc and i cant see the shadow file, i also cant get into single user via grub.

anyone have suggestions on what i should do?

edit: i didnt see the second response till after i tried and was successful with the first!

Do you have access to terminal? if so type sudo passwd root

Once you get this access type sudo gedit /etc/sudoers and scroll down to where it shows

User privilege specification
root ALL=(ALL) ALL
and add your name with the same priviledges as root.

So example would be User privilege specification
root ALL=(ALL) ALL
username ALL=(ALL) ALL

Boot it up, chroot /mnt/sysimage, passwd root.

thnx! it's up and running now!

i just need to get ti to work on my new network... since i need to dl fc4 for it anyway, i think i'll do that first
