Exclamation where are the yum downloaded rpm files stored??

i want to keep a copy of the rpm files downloaded by yum update
which directory it is stored?

It's done automatically. For each repository there is a cache subdirectory called packages in /var/cache/yum/, e.g. /var/cache/yum/extras/packages

you could have found this information by reading the man file for yum
