surround sound

alright, well i've got a weird issue.. i've got a 4.1 speaker setup (i know, but i've had it for a while, they sound great and i dont really care about my Audio THAT much) and i can only get the rear two speakers to work. now, i know i have the front 2 hookedu p correctly as well because when i turn on "Duplicate Front" in KMix i get audio in the front two. but what i'm concerned about is that it is just the same as the rear two, which is fine.. but i like my surround feeling and i want different channels and all that jazz.

if it comes down to it i'll just leave Duplicate Front on and i'll suck it up but i'd like to hear rockets fly by my head when in quake 4 :-) i've tried changing it to 4 channel mode in kmix but that doesn't appear to do anything.

as far as hardware goes, i'm using a shuttle SK43G and its an ac97 audio controller for those that don't wish to go look it up ;-) any help would be greatly appreciated on this matter.

Do you have IEC958 or something that resembles it? I had to disable some switches in kmix to get surround sound. And I also had to plug in my rear in the audio in and relay rear -> audio in. Weird stuff but it works now...
