yum crashing while updating system-config-securitylevel-tui

Hey dudes I'm running fedora 4 x86 64 bit on my pentium 4 xeon, all seems to do fine untill I uodate my system.

I have 10 years of expirience with freebsd but I'm new to linux and this kint of packaging systems, I have bin updating several times now resulting in completly chashing my system making it unbootable and their docs tell me running this update command in my cron?????? anyway I figgured out that it is a useless app called system-config-securitylevel-tui that tries to reloadload/upgrade my init (tells me something like INIT VERSION 2.85 Reloading and then stop fuctioning)

Now I read about this specific error messege that it could be acpi related I turned of acpi in my bios, and know there are nomore acpi messages in my logs (telling me that a sertian device is enabled or not), I'm to scared to trie or this was the problem, and wanna ask you guys about this.

1. Why doesn't my INIT script not reload as suppost to is this due acpi?
2. How can I fix this?
3. where can I stop yum from updating this and LOTS of other useless apps from updating?

Ynks for reading

I excluded some things by setting the following in /etc/yum.conf

exclude= system-config-* cups* bluetooth* alsa*

I will update this list, but I think its kinda weird seeing what packages are actually installed after a absolute minimum install
;k updating now, let's see or my system chrashes agian.
