wacom graphire + gimp
Hello folks!
I'm using FC4 with acutual kernel and gimp versions. The graphire3 graphic tablet used to work earlier and now I get 2 cursors in gimp with variable distance between them. It works with full functionality, recognises stylus, eraser, cursor, pressure and so on.
Does somebody has an idea, what it could be?
Thanks

So I've found something insteresting in italian language and this really solved my problem. Can't explain why does this work, but the solution looks like that.
Edit your xorg.conf (I'm using FC4) and modify the mouse device replacing:
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
with
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mouse0"
That's it!

Basically all pointing devices were used by the mouse device instead of the device per se (mouse0)
If you would, could you post the relevant parts of your xorg.conf file, please? (the Section "Inputdevice" instances, and the server layout) I recently bought a Graphire 4 and I'd like to use it fully (been unable to get the stylus and eraser work as they should with The GIMP)

This is how it looks like in xorg.conf:
### Mouse ###
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mouse0"
Option "Buttons" "7"
Option "ZaxisMapping" "6 7"
EndSection
### Wacom ###
Section "InputDevice"
Driver "wacom"
Identifier "wcursor"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/wacom"
Option "Type" "cursor"
Option "USB" "on"
EndSection
Section "InputDevice"
Driver "wacom"
Identifier "wstylus"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/wacom"
Option "Type" "stylus"
Option "USB" "on"
EndSection
Section "InputDevice"
Driver "wacom"
Identifier "weraser"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/wacom"
Option "Type" "eraser"
Option "USB" "on"
EndSection
### Server Layout ###
Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "Singlehead Layout"
Screen 0 "screen0"
InputDevice "mouse0" "CorePointer"
InputDevice "keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
InputDevice "wcursor" "SendCoreEvents"
InputDevice "wstylus" "SendCoreEvents"
InputDevice "weraser" "SendCoreEvents"
Option "Clone" "off"
Option "Xinerama" "off"
EndSection
To configure gimp go File->Preferences->Input Devices->Configure Extended Input Devices and set mode Screen for all wacom devices listed.
Have fun!

Thanks a LOT man!! This the kind of information I needed, as I had been unable to get GIMP to properly work (or X to properly see the Wacom Graphire 4 tablet. Testing the tablet on my primary system with FC4 I see FC4 already has wacom support built into both X and the kernel, so it would seem there's not much of a case for installing linuxwacom here unless for the control applications... I'll keep on reading and see if it is possible to have only wacomcpl and the rest of the apps installed without the X driver or the kernel driver. Thanks again!

De nada, hombre!
But look, this information about changing the mouse device ist also described as a problem of 2.4.x kernel in the official HOWTO... Take a look at this:
http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/in...p/howto/mouse1
And PLEASE also take a look at this!!!
http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/in...howto/newwacom
There you'll find some Fedora related problem described. I've also changed this, but don't know if it really makes a difference.
Hope you get your graphire up and running soon!
