KDE Desktop Files/Folders Not there - FC4

Can someone tell me why i do not see any of files or folders i create on my KDE 3.5 desktop unless i force a refresh on the desktop? I can download files or create them with any application and they seem to not show up unless i force the refresh or log out and log back in. Quite odd. Any help will be appreciated.

Just a suggestion:

Try changing your desktop theme and see if the behaviour changes.

That did it. I changed the theme but i did need to restart my machine for it to work. Is this a bug in KDE?
