Can't get Sound to work!

I just got FC4 to install, not more then a half hour ago actually(!) and I don't have sound. I know it's a driver issue. So I went to my motherboard's website, http://www.uas.asus.com and put in my settings under download. Which were Motherboard>>>Socket 478>>>P4P800S-X and went to Drivers and selected SoundMAX as my driver because that's what my Onboard sound is. SO I download the files,a dn then I'm lost...

Haven't the slightest clue how I got abot installign them. Infact, I can't even find the folder I downloaded to desktop...

Any ideas?

You have an Intel HDA chipset, just open the gnome-volume-control (or alsamixer in any terminal window) and start playing with the sound settings. In alsamixer, use the M key to unmute the channels (marked by the little MMs). Make sure you have your system all up2date before giving up, as the alsa driver is part of the kernel package, so update to the latest kernel package.

How do I update the Kernel? It asked me to auto update, which I did, then it said something about it not being GNC or somethign compatible. I may not have been GNC but it definetly had a G in it. Any ideas?
