Links don't work in Thunderbird
I did a search on this, but what I found wasn't helpful. I installed Thunderbird 1.5 and it works great except for one little problem. When I click on a link in a message, nothing happens. It doesn't open. When I first installed it, it was opening links in an old version of Mozilla that was on my computer. I went into the configuration utility in KDE and changed the file association settings to open htm and html files in Firefox. That didn't work. Then I used yum to remove Mozilla. Now it won't open the links at all. anyone got any suggestions? Is there a file I can manually edit to make programs open htm and html files in Firefox?
Running FC4 and KDE on a 686 arch.
BTW, if you have Firefox installed and you remove Mozilla with yum you will lose your extensions.

I installed Firefox and Thunderbird from the tar.gz that you download at Mozilla's site. I have them installed at:
/home/myuser/firefox
/home/myuser/thunderbird
Regards!

create a symlink for firefox to /usr/bin and thunderbird links should open in firefox
I assume your firefox command is is in ~/firefox-installer/firefox? so I think it would be ln -s ~/firefox-installer/firefox /usr/bin
If firefox is not ~/firefox-installer/firefox, then replace that with your/path/to/firefox
Someone correct me if the syntax is incorrect

You can also use the config editor in Thunderbird (on linux the config editor is located under the menu option Edit -> Preferences on the Advanced tab). Look for the preference name network.protocol-handler.app.http
Make sure the value of the preference refers to a file that exists in the file system. To further debug the problem you could try running the script referenced by the preference manually (with a url as argument). If you get errors then debug from there (maybe your default browser location has moved).

We've all been guilty of this one michmu--take a look at the date of the thread that you've answered. (I hate it when I do that, because someone is sure to be sarcastic about it. However, as one who's done it, I'm quite familiar with missing the fact that I'm answering a 4 year old post---well, three years and 7 plus months.

lol. 4 year old post it maybe but fedora forum is a resource for users and the content will remain pertinent for as long as the original problem still exists.

Re: Links don't work in Thunderbird
The problem indeed still exists.
I have this same problem. I have looked at open-browser.sh and is directing to /desktop/genome and as I am using KDE this is a problem. I hope to solve it soon. I'll come back with additional information.
If someone has the solution, or the correct open-browser.sh file, I will appreciate it.
Thanks, by the way, this is my first message.

Re: Links don't work in Thunderbird
Well, now it's working.
I don't know exactly what I did, but here it goes. I unsistalled Thunderbird completely. Then, fromthe repo, I installed it again. I made sure I didn't install anything that was related to gnome and only the pacakages that I needed.
Chrome is for me the default web browser.
Then I tried to reach a link from Thunderbird and the program asked me which browser I wanted to use for it. I chose google-chrome directly and now it works.

Re: Links don't work in Thunderbird
I'm using firefox, in my case clicking a link in thunderbird when firefox is not open will open firefox and display the page (new window).
Once firefox is open clicking a link in thunderbird does not display the page (change window focus) but only highlights firefox on the taskbar and I must click on the taskbar to display the page, this behaviour started with Fedora 13 (12 was fine).
Please confirm that in your case "change window focus" is working by just clicking a link.

Re: Links don't work in Thunderbird
Change window focus works fine for me.
When clicking the link on ThB Chrome opens, and if it is open, focus is transferred to the new opened tab.

Re: Links don't work in Thunderbird
Just upgraded to Fedora 14 via preupgrade and window focus is back to normal behaviour.
