Fedora won´t install on my notebook

I just got my brand new notebook and already installed Windows 2000. I partitioned the disk from there so that I have 6 partitions, only the first (c is formatted, the rest is unformatted.
Anyway when I try to install Fedora Core 4 from DVD I come to the install method screen and I hit ENTER for graphical setup. Then I see some command lines on the screen, looks ok so far, but then the screen turns black, the DVD drive slows down and nothing happens anymore. I´m waiting for 5 minutes now but nothing happens. Why does this happen?

The notebook is a HP nx6125 with an AMD Sempron 3000+, ATI X300 and 768MB RAM. Thanks for any help!

I just stumbled over the nofb command All "linux resolution=XxY" doesn´t work, so I try this nofb now.

EDIT: OK, it works now. ut I wonder why this happened and if this will get me into trouble later in the installation process when starting the KDE.

i have this encounter before. i had a funny way of avoiding this.
when the screen goes blank, and the DVD/CD drive is not reading the disk at all,
try to hit the RIGHT ARROW once and hit ENTER and see if it does something for you,
it works for me those times.
