Missing Directory

Hello,

I seem to be having a rather interesting problem since, not a single
piece of information can be found on these forums or online.

I create a directory in /dev called cd-rom using Konqueror in KDE
that is used as a mount point for my dvd-rom drive. Each time I
either log off, shut down, or restart, this directory becomes misplaced
and a new one must be created.

I am currently running Fedora Core 5 test 2, which accepts Fedora
Core 4 commands.

If more information is needed please post, and I'll gladly try to provide
it.

Thank you

JB

I'm not totally sure about this, but I think that the entire content of /dev is dinamically created at boot time by UDEV.
So, either you create your montpoint somewhere else (/mnt, for instance) or you have to find out how to tell udev to crate a given directory for you at every boot.

LocutosOfBorg,

Thank you for your reply it was very helpful in solving my problem,
you hit the nail on the head, I moved the directory to /mnt like you
suggested and adjusted my config files to create the new mount
point, and the problem was fixed. Thanks for your help.
