Command line based web browser?
Im pretty sure fedora has some of these but im not sure what they are called or how to use them.
My dilemma is that I setup a fedora server last night, and am now at work. I can SSH into the box fine but that is it. FTP/http/pings etc do not work, and I disabled the firewall so its not that.
Im thinking ports on the router arent forwarded properly, and if its possible to use a command line based browser in SSH I may be able to fix it while im at work (im bored so I want to play with the server!).
Anyone know a way to do this? or is there maybe a vpn package thats usually installed?

I have used lynx which can be installed via the installation CDs. You can probably get it with yum too.
If that's the sort of thing you want...

OK thanks, I have links installed.
Im running into a problem however, I can get into the router management but it is not displayed the full page.
For instance on my port forward page it only displays half of whats setup, and no button to save the changes. Same with the administration section, because I figured I could temp setup remote admin, but theres no way for me to save the conifg.
Any suggestions?

Doesn't your router have a possibility to administer it with ssh or telnet?

Is it just cutting out? (text suddenly stops?) or can you page down?
Not sure if the admin page you are viewing has some strange scripting that elinks possibly doesn't recognise...

Appears as if the text suddenly stops.
I beleive it is possible to setup ssh but I cant get to it.
im going to guess its a scripting problem, on the admin section of the router, under "use https: []" on the left hand side it just shows <P align and it cuts off from there.

Google says, that it is possible to telnet your router. It's worth a try.

This is probably resolved, but you should try to use port forwarding with ssh.
If you're on linux you should be able to do:
Code:
ssh -L 11311:IPofrouter:portofrouter username@sshbox
Then open your browser and point it to http://localhost:11311 and you should get forwarded to the webserver of the router you're trying to work with.
If you're trying to connect from a windows box you can use puTTY to do the same port forwarding and point your browser to http://localhost:forwarded-port
howto on putty port forwarding:

If this has already been resolved, maybe this will come in handy some other time!

A side comment: You can also just use a graphical browser with X forwarding. I use that a lot.

Javascript
General,
The problem may be Javascript. I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago on a new install of a Linksys router. Javascript must be supported by your browser, and enabled. I also found that Norton Internet Security enabled caused the same problem. This may have been due to Norton blocking Javascript.
