nvidia module install error: unknown parameter...

Well just when I thought I had my Nvidia problems solved, I was proved wrong, lol. Everything stopped working as far as the Nvidia Module/Driver was concerned. So of course I decided to reinstall, no big deal right? Well, it seemed to install ok, but when I modprobed it, I got an error message that said this:

FATAL: Error inserting nvidia (/lib/modules/2.6.15-prep/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

So I checked dmesg out and found this:

nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel.
nvidia: Unknown parameter `NVreg_EnableAGP8x'

I'm still a bit of a newb and learning tons about Linux everyday, but I'm stumped on this. Thanks for all the help I've gotten on here in the past and for any help you can give me with this issue. FedoraForum has been a lifesaver.

ok I solved it...seems that I had backup files of xorg.conf and modprobe.conf that conflicted with nvidia's module. Everything is working fine now. I do have one question however. I went to /proc/driver/nvidia/agp and then checked the card and the host-bridge. These are the messages I got for each:

[root@localhost ~]# cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/card
Fast Writes: Supported
SBA: Supported
AGP Rates: 8x 4x
Registers: 0x1f000e1b:0x1f004301

[root@localhost ~]# cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/host-bridge
Host Bridge: PCI device 1039:0648
Fast Writes: Not Supported
SBA: Supported
AGP Rates: 4x
Registers: 0x1f004e09:0x00000f01

My question is, why is the host-bridge not letting me change to AGP8x and not supporting Fast Write? When I had Windows XP Pro, the host-bridge was correct which AGP8x enabled and Fast Write supported. Now I know that my motherboard has an 8x AGP slot which is where my card is at, and the BIOS also supports AGP8x and Fast Write, which I have both enabled on it. I also custom compiled kernel-2.6.15 for my computer and made sure that the SiS Drivers for my Chipset were installed (that chipset being 648). I really would like to take advantage of what my motherboard and graphics card can provide, otherwise what's the use of having a high performance card and the AGP8x slot if you can't take advantage of what they have to offer? I read through Nvidia's README file, but it didn't seem to offer any solutions unless I overlooked or didn't understand them. Thanks again for your help.
