Okay, you're going to burn the ISO's as 'images'. Here's a link to the free program I always used in XP: http://www.cdburnerxp.se/ Just download it, open it, click on the ISO button and follow the easy steps - always made perfect cd's for me.
Oh yes, make sure you have downloaded the i386 files (or X86_64 if you want AMD64bit), not the SRPM files - those are 'source' files and not what you're looking for.

older version of nero didnt support burning iso's. its been a while since i used nero but i belive if you click on the tools menu (maybe the file menu) there is an option to burn a cd from an image. if it will only accept an nrg file then i don't know that it will do it, but you should probably try anyway. i would
you don't want to use the burn cd/dvd wizard or anything... it doesnt have the option to burn an iso. just cancel it.
if you downloaded 4 files from the mirror then yes, they will have iso extensions. make sure that windows is just not configured not to show file extensions.

Burn the image, then boot your system with the disc you just burned.

Switch off the option that hides file extensions in Windows Explorer.

When you downloaded the 4 CD's, they would have been ISO's. Burn them just that way. For instance, if you went here: http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...re/4/i386/iso/ you would see that there are FC4-i386-disc1.iso thru disc4.iso . Those are the ones you should have downloaded and you should burn them as indicted in that CDburnerXP program. Once you've burned the four iso's, you can then install them directly. Of course, if you've already got an OS on your computer that you want to protect, back up the data and partition the hard drive.
