Upgrading from FC1 to FC4

i had no problems loading up FC1 but now i am trying to upgrade to FC4. The only option I have is to upgrade from my hard drive. Which i am having difficulty doing. If anyone can help I really appreciate it. Also I could not get the FC4 disk to load up i kept going straight to grub. It never went to the upgrade area.

1) You must have any linux already installed and all isos accessible in some folder

2) Suck out vmlinuz and initrd.img from first install CD - its in folder called isolinux

3) copy these ^^ two files to your /boot - it is good to rename it to vmlinuz_install and initrd_install.img

4) edit grub.conf (or lilo.conf, but I don't know how to do it in lilo)

5) add new entry with path to that files you copied - it should look like:

title FC5 install root (hdx,y) <- this is your partition, where /boot is located kernel /boot/vmlinuz_install initrd /boot/initrd_install.img



6) save grub.conf, count to 12 and half and reboot

7) select in grub that ^^ entry

8) wait until installation method question appears

9) select the partition with isos and write the path to them

10) select OK and pray Installation should soon start

[edit] the partition with the iso's should NOT be the partition on which you are going to install, so you need a spare partition to use this method
